Dates and Deadlines

Deadlines for applications to study at the University of Zurich

Fall semester: 30 April
Spring semester: 30 November

You must submit an online application to study centrally to the University of Zurich.

Faculty of Science study programs are designed to be started in the fall semester. It is possible to start your studies in the spring semester, but this will be subject to restrictions. It's advisable to discuss this in advance with the academic advisor responsible for the subject in question.

Semester Enrollment

Semester enrollment takes place in the second half of November for the following spring semester, and in the second half of May for the following fall semester. The University will send you an e-mail with the deadlines for enrollment to your UZH e-mail account.
Tip: We recommend doing semester enrollment immediately and paying the invoice for your semester fees without delay. This is the only way of ensuring that your login is activated by the time the procedure for booking modules has started, enabling you to book modules for the following semester (see the section on booking modules).

Booking Modules

Students must book all modules themselves each semester in the online booking system. When you book a module you book the module itself and the assessment or exam for the module simultaneously.
You can generally begin booking modules in calendar week 32 for the fall semester and in calendar week 1 for the spring semester. The precise deadlines are specified for each module in the online course catalogue. The login for booking modules will only work if payment of your semester fees has been registered. Please note that this takes around a week. For this reason we urgently advise you to pay your semester fees in good time. It's not possible to book places on modules in advance; this applies in particular to practical course and training groups. The University Student Administration Office has sole responsibility for any questions related to matriculation and semester fees.
