UZurich Team

The UZurich team participated in the "The International Genetically Engineered Machine" Competition 2020 and was recognized as the best undergrad new application project.

The UZurich team did well at the IGEM Competition 2020, as their project Plant Immunity Based Biosensing was recognized as the Best Undergrad New Application Project. The team was also nominated for presenting the Best New Basic Part (read: biological building block), and the Best Part Collection. The team was further awarded with a Gold Medal.

The UZurich team worked in spite of the exceptional circumstances continuously since March – both outside and inside the lab – and has also creatively set up outreach projects (e.g. videos, interviews) on synthetic biology and its their specific project that is also available via their webpage and numerous collaborations (e.g. with Eawag). The projects was supported by the Faculty of Science.

Together with the 2020 team, the supervisors led by Cyril Zipfel are now working actively to recruit a new team for 2021 to continue this project.
