European Girl's Mathematical Olympiad 2017

Über 160 Mathe-begeisterte Mädchen aus Europa messen sich diesen Samstag und Sonntag auf dem Campus Irchel.
Dieses Jahr findet die EGMO - die European Girl's Mathematical Olympiad - erstmals in Zürich bzw. auf dem Campus Irchel statt.
Seit 2012 fördert die EGMO junge, talentierte Frauen in der Mathematik. Gastgeber sind die Universität Zürich und die ETH Zürich. Eröffnet wird die EGMO 2017 am 7. April an der ETH Zürich mit einer Begrüssung durch ETH-Rektorin Sarah Springman. Teams aus 43 Ländern mit je vier Mittelschülerinnen werden sich an zwei 4,5-stündigen Prüfungen messen. Diese erfordern logisches Denken, Kreativität, Ausdauer und Übung. Die Medaillenverleihung findet am 11. April auf dem Campus Irchel statt - mit Ansprachen von UZH-Rektor Michael Hengartner und der Zürcher Bildungsdirektorin Silvia Steiner.
