Just like COVID-19, which turned the human world upside-down, wheat plants face a variety of diseases. One of our most important food crops, wheat, is threatened by yellow rust, leading to significant yield losses. Therefore, we aim to understand parts of its genetic code by comparing the DNA of different wheat varieties. Why does one variety show higher resistance to certain diseases while others are completely overwhelmed? And why are wheat seeds stored in genebanks all over the world so important for our task? Dive into the secrets of DNA at Katharina's booth to find answers to these questions.
