First Semester Introductory Events

At these events you will receive essential information on how to effectively organize and plan your studies. Attendance at the introductory event is compulsory for some programs. They take place in the week before the courses begin. You can use the link below to download an overview and other important information about these events. There are also information sheets available for you to download (PDF, 257 KB) on how to book modules in the major and minor biology and biomedicine programs.

Although the events are geared towards major students, minor students from other faculties are nevertheless also invited to attend and will be able to ask questions about planning their minor studies. For minor students, we hold Minor Days every April on the Irchel campus, where you can form an impression of all the minor programmes and ask questions of representatives from the programs.

Students of minor programmes for which no introductory events are held should contact their subject advisor with questions about the degree programs.

New students in the Master's programs who arrive at UZH from other universities should contact their program advisors as early as possible to plan their studies.

Introductory Events of the Programs

The introductory events for the Biochemistry, Biodiversity, Biology, Biomedicine, Chemistry, Earth System Sciences, Geography, Mathematics and Physics programmes are held on the Irchel Campus in the week before lectures begin.

Recognition of previous achievements

If you have previously studied at another university and earned ECTS, you can submit a request for credit transfer. Credits will not be transferred automatically. The request must be submitted in writing to the Office of the Dean of Studies of the MNF and you must enclose complete and gap-free certificates of achievement and, if applicable, descriptions of the contents of lectures. You can submit the request as soon as you have finished with your enrollment at the University. Submit a request early, as it may take some time to process. Please note: We will always look at all of your achievements, positive and negative. It is therefore possible that a credit will not only be given positively, but that, depending on the case, failed attempts will also be credited and taken over. If this is the case for you, you can choose not to receive credits and start from scratch at MNF. For students coming from ETH Zurich, the partial examinations of the basic examinations are taken into account and failed attempts may be relevant even though the basic examination was passed overall.
