House mice are native to Switzerland, but are also one of the most widely distributed mammals in the world. Having been transported to places where their natural predators were absent, mice could also live alongside humans, resulting in their worldwide presence. This has led to considerable mouse overpopulation and conflict with human activities. Nowadays, poison remains the most widespread means of managing problematic mouse populations. By studying mouse reproduction, behaviour, and genetics, we are investigating a chemical-free method of house mouse control. We hope to use our knowledge of mouse biology to find a more humane alternative to using poison. Come and learn about our work!
