IMPORTANT: If you originate from a foreign country non-member of the European Union, the following procedure must be followed exactly in order to obtain a work permit before the beginning of the PhD thesis.

1. Application to a PhD program affiliated to the Science Faculty
2. Application at the Admissions Office of the University of Zurich 
3. Application for a visa for non-EU foreign students
4. Beginning of the PhD thesis in Zurich only possible after a visa and work permit have been issued.
