Bernd Bodenmiller, SNSF Assistant Professor of Systems Biology was named as one of the world’s Top 40 analytical scientists by the journal The Analytical Scientist.

Peter Linder, Full Professor at the Institute of Systematic Botany, received the prestigious Cuatrecasas Medaille from the Botany Department of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington for his outstanding research in the field of tropical plants.

Thomas Gehrmann, Full Professor of Theoretical Particle Physics, was appointed to the High Energy and Particle Physics Committee of the European Physical Society.

Distinctions and Appointments for Members of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science Holding Dual Professorships

Fritijof Helmchen, Full Professor of Neuroscience, was awarded a grant of USD 750,000 from the US National Institute of Health, as part of the BRAIN Initiative in recognition of his innovative approach to brain research.

Martin Jinek, Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, received the Jucker Prize for outstanding and pioneering work in the field of cancer research.

Rolf M. Zinkernagel, Professor Professor of Experimental Immunology, received the Curtin Medal for Excellence in Medical Research Prize from the Australian National University in honor of his lifetime’s work in the field of immunology.

Calls to Professorships at Other Universities

Laura Baudis, Full Professor at the Department of Physics was called to, but did not accept, the post of “Canada Excellence Research Chair” by Queens University, Kingston, Canada.

Michal Kapustka, Privatdozent for algebraic geometry at the Department of Mathematics, was called to and accepted the post of Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Stavanger, Norway.

Bart Klem, Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Geography, was called to and accepted the post of Lecturer in Development Studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Stefan Luschnig, Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Institute for Molecular Biology, was called to, but did not accept, the post of Professor of Developmental Genetics at the University of Kassel, Germany.
