Representative Bodies

Grafik: Daniel Holliger

All non-professorial members of UZH are assigned into four bodies. They have extensive codetermination rights on all levels, from departments to the Board of the University. Exercising these rights is organized by four independent body associations. The codetermination right is linked to the affiliation with a body, but independent of the voluntary membership in a body association.

The four representative bodies at UZH are:

  • Students (S)
  • Junior Researchers (WNW)
  • Senior Researchers and Teaching Staff (FFL)
  • Administrative and Technical Staff (ATP)

Students include students enrolled at UZH in:

  • BSc programs
  • MSc programs
  • Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education.

Their interests are represented by VSUZH – University of Zurich Student Association

Junior Researchers include:

  • PhD students enrolled at UZH (independent of an employment at UZH)
  • PostDocs
  • Researchers in junior academic positions (student assistants, teaching and research assistants, senior teaching and research assistants)

Their interests are represented by VAUZ – Association of Junior Researchers of the University of Zurich

Senior Researchers and Teaching Staff include:

  • Academic associates
  • Attending physicians
  • Teaching staff with a private-law employment contract
  • Teaching staff who are remunerated according to a posting agreement.

Their interests are represented by VFFL – Association of Senior Researchers and Teaching Staff

Administrative and Technical Staff (ATP) include:

  • Administrative staff
  • Technical and operational staff
  • Medical and lab staff
  • Cleaning staff.

Their interests are represented by V-ATP – Association of Administrative and Technical Staff.
