Studying and Military Service

Information on postponing military service during your studies can be found on the Swiss Army Website .

Please submit the completedservice postponement form and any supporting documents via thecontact form.

For the semester in which the planned military service takes place, you must be enrolled in the Faculty of Science and have no outstanding semester fees.

Credits for military leadership training

It is possible to credit military cadre training to some of the Faculty of Science's study programmes.
ECTS Credits may be obtained for the following military cadre training courses:

To obtain credits, the following conditions must be met:

  • The student must have completed the service required to obtain the rank in question.
  • An overall grade of at least 3 (good) is required.
  • Training must have been completed no more than five years before the expected date of graduation.
  • Only one training course can be credited for each study level.

To receive credits, you must submit an application in writing to the Office of Student Affairs. The following documents are required:

  • Copy of your final military qualification, cadre training and training completed for the rank for which credits are being applied.
  • Evidence of military rank achieved (from service book (DB) page 8).
  • Confirmation of length of service (from DB page 12).

These qualifications will be registered by the Office of Student Affairs. Credits are given as "passed" without any grade.
