Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI)
The MNF EDI committee focuses on strengthening the equality, diversity, and inclusion practices of the Faculty of Science (MNF) such that we support each individual in reaching their full potential.
We believe diversity refers at least to gender, nationality, age, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Our faculty-level initiatives include:
- Being the first institution in Switzerland to pilot the Athena Swan equality charter
- Regular meetings by the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Committee
- Awareness raising and combating of biases in how we treat and evaluate others
- Hiring practices which ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment of all candidates

Promotion of family-friendly working conditions
Implementation of the EDI-Grundlagen der UZH
At the university level, the office for Gender Equality and Diversity promotes diversity on all levels and is committed to prevent discrimination. In addition to providing support and training, the office offers e.g., the Leitfaden Geschlechtergerecht in Text und Bild. With the Gender Equality Monitoring, the office for Gender Equality and Diversity systematically evaluates data related to gender equality at UZH. All members of the university are represented in the UZH Gender Equality Commission.
