Transfer of credits

If you have previously studied at another university and earned ECTS credits, you can submit a credit transfer request. Credits are not transferred automatically. The request must be submitted in writing to the Office of Student Affairs of the MNF (gesuche@mnf.uzh.ch). You must enclose complete, and gap-free transcripts or other certificates of previous achievements and, if applicable, descriptions of the contents of modules you took.

The request can be submitted as soon as you have successfully enrolled at the University of Zurich. The request for credits transfer must be submitted in writing to the Office of Student Affairs of the MNF no later than before the end of the first semester since entering the new study program. After that, no more credits can be recognized. Only credits that have not already been used for a degree can be recognised.

Please note that all your achievements will be checked, including both successful and failed attempts. It is therefore not only possible for credits to be transferred positively, but also for failed attempts to be credited. If this is the case, you can choose to not transfer your previous achievements and start from scratch at the MNF.  For students transferring from the ETH Zurich, the partial exams of the first-year exams (Basisprüfung) are evaluatedindividually, and failed attempts may be relevant even if the first-year exam was passed overall.

No credits can be transferred from studies in human medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine.
